New Dental Provider Selected

The DC Office of Personnel is pleased to announce that Cigna Dental has been selected as the new dental provider for the District government. Cigna Dental replaced Greater Washington Dental Services, effective July 27, 2003.

Cigna will provide comprehensive dental services that range from preventive care to orthodontic treatment. Cigna provides a nationwide dental Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) network in which covered family members can choose their own network dentist - near home, work or school.

Eligible employees should have received identification cards and information packets at your home address the week of July 27, 2003. A primary care dentist has been automatically selected for you based on the zip code of your home address, but you may call Cigna's customer service department to change your primary care dentist.

Cigna issued one identification card per family, provided that you and your eligible family members have the same primary care dentist. If you and your family members select different primary care dentist(s), each dependent should have received an identification card. Employees currently enrolled in the District's Cigna Health plan also received new identification cards for the dental plan.

Key features of the Cigna Dental plan include: no deductible to meet, no claim forms to file and no waiting period for coverage. In addition, Cigna provides YourHealth@Cigna, which is an interactive website for the whole family. The site contains the latest health news; information on medical topics such as health, fitness and parenting; an online video library; as well as a calorie counter and other features that you can personalize.

Cigna's pre-enrollment Customer Service number is 1-800-367-1037, and their web address is www.cigna.com, which will link you to the provider directories.
