The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) within the District
of Columbia Office of Personnel (DCOP) seeks an unpaid intern for
the spring semester to assist with two initiatives:
- Management and marketing of the Capital City Fellows Program
(CCFP), an initiative of Mayor Anthony Williams to recruit and
train recent graduates of master’s degree programs in public
policy, public administration, urban planning and related fields;
and
- Research to identify grants and to support the enhancement of
employee training programs government-wide.
The internship is available on a part-time or full-time basis. The intern will
work under the direction of the Program Manager for the Capital City Fellows
Program and the Director of CWD. Assignments include but are not limited to:
- Compiling a database of university contacts for recruiting CCFP applicants
- Coordinating professional development programs for CCFP Fellows
- Participating in the planning process for the Capital City Fellows Program Interviews in March
- Assisting with the evaluation of candidate applications for the Capital City Fellows Program
- Attending and participating in CCFP activities and meetings as appropriate
- Regularly reviewing CWD’s website to check for timeliness and accuracy
of information
- Assisting in the assessment and evaluation of CWD training programs
Skills/experience desired:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Interest in urban policy and city government
- Computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Access, Excel, Internet)
- Research experience
- Basic knowledge of statistics
