1 - Does Not Meet Expectations

  • Unable to provide the coaching necessary to guide and empower others.
  • Does not provide challenging and stretching tasks and assignments.
  • Does not take the time to work with those who need improvement.
  • Does not acknowledge employee contributions and accomplishments.
  • Does not implement performance management systems or processes.
  • Does not take corrective disciplinary actions when appropriate.
  • Inept at managing a diverse workforce.

3 - Meets Expectations

  • Provides ongoing guidance and positive reinforcement to improve performance.
  • Provides challenging tasks and assignments.
  • Will work with people who need improvement.
  • Consistently evaluates, provides feedback and develops employees to their next level of performance.
  • Shares and/or delegates power and authority with staff.
  • Shares rewards with staff.
  • Provides corrective and/or progressive disciplinary actions to modify/improve inappropriate behavior or performance.
  • Ensures staff are properly selected, used, appraised and developed, and are treated fairly.
  • Effective at managing a diverse workforce.

5 - Significantly Exceeds Expectations

  • Consistently coaches, counsels and improves individual and team performance.
  • Continually challenges people to improve performance and/or system quality.
  • Always provides frequent and helpful development discussions and feedback.
  • Is eager to work with people who need improvement.
  • Always evaluates and develops employees to their next level of performance.
  • Champions diversity in the workplace.
