Employee Training Programs
The Center for Workforce Development (CWD) provides the necessary programs and resources to increase the knowledge, skills, and competencies of District government employees so that they may provide the highest quality and most cost-effective services to the residents of the District of Columbia.
Currently, the CWD offers training to employees through the following programs:
- Fundamental Skills Series - These courses focus on improving employees' basic skills in oral and written communication, vocabulary and reading, CPR/First Aid, and conversational Spanish.
- Organizational Skills Series - These courses are designed to provide employees with an understanding of the current issues facing employees in today's organizations and the skills to help them operate effectively.
- Professional Development Series - These courses help employees stay current or advance in their careers.
- Computer Technology Training Program - These courses range from entry-level computer applications to specialized technology training. Online training courses are also available.
- Management and Leadership Development Program - The District offers four tiers of management training courses: the Leadership Integration and Empowerment Program, Management Supervisory Service training, the Certified Public Management Program, and Senior Executive Development.
DC government employees can find more information about the course schedule, individual programs, registration, and training policies on the DCOP intranet.
